ubuntu installation is very simple compared to windows XP. here are simple steps to install UBUNTU 8.10 on ur desktop PC. 1.get ubuntu cd iso image from ubuntu website and burn it into a cd or get it by post from ubuntu. 2.insert cd into cd/dvd drive and rebootpc. 3. select ubuntu live environment. 4.then a desktop appears where select install icon. 5.the next steps will be easily understandable. 6.take care while selecting the partition to install ubuntu. before installing os create a 10gb partition. 7.while selecting swap size select 'x' size partition(where x=double the RAM size) and select swap. 8.while selecting partition size select the remaining partition(10-x)gb with ext3 file extension and select / as mount point. 9.the next steps will be easy and enjoy installing and using ubuntu. 10.u can enjoy more if u update the ubuntu . this is hemanth ..................................signing off for today.
